ABOUT THE STAY
This past Saturday Marj and I had a long day of content creation and branding at the Summerset Studio in Toronto, so we decided” why not just stay downtown”.
We love the downtown core, and have had a TON of staycations all around Toronto; but THIS ONE was unique… this one, unlike all of the others, was centered on relaxation (in the most luxury way possible, of course).
Not only was this overnight light and romantic, it was extremely cost-effective, enjoyable, and memorable.
So what are you waiting for? Let’s get you planning!

HOTEL
_
We stayed at the Yorkville Royal Sonnesta hotel (Formally the Intercontinental), and let me tell you…
Not only did this hotel have AMAZING service (and I mean they went above and beyond), but the hotel itself had the cheekiest most instagrammable city views that really added character to our stay.
COST
_
While we wanted luxury, we also did NOT want to run up a bag on a single night staycation, so the price point of this hotel was perfect:
We booked a Preferred King room at just less than CAD 210 (using my Booking.com membership) – But we were graciously upgraded to an executive King Suite on arrival.

FOOD & DRINKS
_
On Saturday night, we enjoyed Dinner, Drinks, & Apps at the PROOF Bar located on the main floor of the hotel.
This was extremely convenient, because as you can guess, after a day of shooting we simply wanted to chill out. Which definitely meant, we did not want to go through the Toronto hassles of traffic, parking, waitlists or line ups to eat. But we also did not want to sacrifice quality or ambiance for “fast food”, and PROOF delivered! The food was great, and while the menu is small, the food selection is just wide enough for you to find something you’ll like. On the other hand, the drink menu was extensive! We had a couple of sparkling wine selections in our room, so we didn’t go ALL out on the drinks. But from what we did get, I can assure you PROOF knows exactly what they’re doing in the drink department! From a well curated wine selection of differing regions and grapes to an amazing toss up of mixed drinks to soothe your pallet, you’ll find the perfect drink to suit your needs.
In the morning, we ordered room service for breakfast at about CAD 32 per meal, which was pretty fantastic given the convenience, quality and, of course, the breakfast views.
THE POOL & TERRACE
Although our stay took place during stage one of the Ontario re-opening plan, we were able to steal a private peek into the Royal’s recently renovated swimming pool!
Expected to open to the public on July 21st (Stage 3 of Ontario’s re-opening), this arena is sure to give you and #bae moody tropic vibes.
Situated beside the hotel’s stunning outdoor terrace, you can enjoy a relaxing indoor-outdoor pool experience. Featuring large glass windows, mirrors, and a high vaulted glass ceiling, the pool is guaranteed to give you the escape that you need.
Of course, I can’t gloss over the city views from the hotel’s terrace and pool! Yes, I know what you’re thinking: you can grab city views from a ton of places in Toronto, so what makes this unique or worthwhile? I’m glad you asked; this chic hotel will allow you to dodge all of the patio/rooftop line ups, crowds, and the “ordinary” Toronto snapshots. Instead, exchanging it all for this eclectic, tranquil, and tropical pool experience!

This experience was everything we needed and more! We dodged the long lines, crowds, and unnecessary city traffic with this one-stop escape.

If you and your significant other are looking to unwind poolside, with great food, drinks, and super cute IG-worthy views – you’ve got to stay here!
Happy Planning & Cheers to your romantic staycation!
